Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Edinburgh on Thursday 16 September stepping gingerly from the plane.
He departed from Birmingham, four days later, with a spring in his step.
Amid a momentous whirlwind of engagements from royal palace to school playing field, from great cathedrals to humble homes for the elderly, the Holy Father won the hearts of millions.

Glasgow welcomes pope benedict XVI
With great joy and heartfelt love we welcome Pope Benedict XVI to Scotland, It is an immense privilege for the Archdiocese of Glasgow to host him at Bellahouston.
I am looking forward personally to welcoming the Pope at the Mass in the evening of the day of his arrival, 16 September.

And John Paul sat on his carved wooden throne - the picture of happiness...
